First I need to apologize to professor John Stanley (1712-1786). Are you listening? Your Voluntary in C is a beautiful composition. The opening and closing phrases are wonderfully crafted and your organ part is a work of art. Unfortunately you did not give the trumpet players enough time to stretch out and for that very reason, I decided to add a little (actually quite a lot) to your piece. As you can see, and hear, I added six additional phrases for the trumpets. I hope you don’t mind. If you have an issue with this, please E-Mail me at brucechidester@hotmail.com and I would be happy to discuss it with you. Until further notice, we will be playing your piece this season with our group. OH! One more thing. Your Voluntary in C is now in Bb…just another executive decision.
