I wanted to arrange this well known piece in a new and unusual way, and I think I was successful in my attempt. It opens with the melody being played by each of the players in an alternating pattern. Each player plays one note of the melody, than passes the next note on to the next performer. As long as everyone continues to count, it works. Spacing the players around the room also increases the effect. Each player starts with flugel, then changes to trumpet for a more powerful ending. If flugels are not available, the parts should be played tight into the stand on the early measures to simulate a flugel sound, then open horns for the finish. This is definitely one you should have.
