This was written by the great jazz saxophonist Sonny Rollins and is one of the most well-known tunes in our jazz library. I wish I could take credit for this wonderful writing but alas, I can only say that I found this on line as an anonymous midi file written for a orchestra and all I can take credit for is recognizing fine counterpoint and reducing a full score to four parts.
Each player has equal responsibility for their part and would be challenging for a high school level ensemble. I recorded all four parts as usual on the first take so a professional ensemble could do it “cold”.
…Great arrangement, great price!
