Trumpets 1 and 3 have the most difficult parts (a couple high C’s) while all of the other parts are mostly whole, half and quarter notes in a low register.
The opening and closing material was written for a wandering feel with mostly homophonic material in the middle. It also contrasts the full ensemble with a lighter quartet for an added color.
