In my opinion, this could be one of the most beautiful and touching songs ever written. It is written in a loose ground bass style with a semi constant repeated pattern throughout. Plenty of rest is given to trumpet 1 in order to make the high C easier for the younger players.

Here’s a nice ballade that should please you listeners. The high parts are short and have rests ahead of them. The Bass is a great addition to this number and includes a short solo for the bass. Each part has a solo with some very interesting counterpoint throughout.

This is #8 in our series of Dixieland Band arrangements. Beautiful Dixieland feel with the trumpet taking most of the lead. It features a trumpet and clarinet solo section with interesting background figures behind the solos. The clarinet solo works in a counter part in the trombone part. It is difficult to find the chords or even the melody for these tunes and would be a great addition to any Dixieland bands library. These are great tunes for the Dixieland “Purest” in the crowd.

Ray Charles has amassed an enormous amount of great recordings and this is one of my favorites. The first part and the third parts carry the melody and there is ample time to take breaks. Tone is the most important element in this number with liberties taken in the solo parts to give it a smooth and fitting styling.

In honor of those who lost their lives 100 years ago on the ill fated Titanic, I thought I would arrange the last number played by the band on that evening. This should be approachable by most Jr. High players for the parts have frequent rests, and with the exception of the 1st trumpet part, all parts are written in an easy range. The trumpets alternate with the organ throughout. The hymn is very repetitious and for that reason I added several four measure interludes which imply a modulation but in reality, it returns to the original key each time.
